Thought the same thing last year when this was noticed, that this was a new holding. Qualcomm and Loral space created globalstar, the poster on yahoo pcstel is an old timer to gsat and thinks the 4.1M shares are legacy, fwiw.

"Qualcomm has held those since Globalstar LP's Bankruptcy in 2004. Check previous years filings.. Yeap.. Still there.. They got the ~4MM shares for about 800MM in secured debt claims during the Globalstar LP Bankruptcy."
