I usually don't rely on the market to absorb the news from the trade or enthusiast press (though sometimes they do). If I am willing to put money on the line, it will have to be low risk. That's why I decided on a strategy that incorporates AMD's reaction at their Q1 earnings conference. If it's positive news, I will wait for the market to raise the stock price before I buy those puts. If it's bad news, I will buy them right away. I realize this might mean losing some opportunity in the mean time, but I'd rather not take the risk of the share price going up sharply in the next couple of weeks.
