I haven't seen it, and was not that interested after I heard is was a lesson on racism. I've lived among more cultures than many (Taiwan, the Caribbean, Malaysia, Singapore's non-melting pot) and frankly, don't need a lecture on tolerance. I'm quite intolerant about lectures on tolerance, as a matter of fact.

"after school special ?" Pah-leeze !!!

Paul Haggis wrote, directed and produced the Best Movie of 2005 (ie. Crash) !

The movie was just a masterful piece of film making ! There was NOTHING "heavy handed" about it. The performances were ALL very well acted. Frankly, I was a little surprised that ONLY Matt Dillon got an Acting Oscar Nom for his work in this movie. But, in an ensemble film like this...that doesn't focus too much on any one individual character...I guess that's not that surprising. The script and the writing was absolutely brilliant. The camera angles and the cinema verite style...using hand-held cameras (Steadicams) throughout much of the film...gave it a real almost documentary feel ! Even the music in the film was compelling and furthered the whole mood and flow of the movie.

This film was SO brilliant on SO many levels...it is impossible for me to understand how anyone could describe it in the way you did !

And for those keeping score Paul Haggis has now become the FIRST writer/producer...to have written/produced back-to-back Best Picture Oscar Winners !

"Million Dollar Baby" in 2004 and...

"Crash" in 2005 !

Never been done before !

Not bad for a guy who wrote/created the original pilot for "Walker Texas Ranger ! LOL
