RE: "guy with followers is to blame...", Well Sir! it's not all as Cut and Dry as you're conveniently making it sound!
"ONE GUY" can make or cause waves of movements on any stock, hence the term "pumper", by simply releasing certain statements to the general public!
though it's easy to say perhaps the General Public shouldn't believe everything they hear and blame them for whatever actions taken as a result of what was disclosed to them.
But you know sir? It happens! Call it as you wish! People "DO" react to what they hear/read!
However, the general public also shares a common consensus of trust if not at the least an honor system that everyone conforms to whether or not they're all conscious of it!
Especially when received from certain sources such as a governed public medium!
But Bellowers on Bullhorns from behind a dumpster in a back ally is a whole different situation!
in either case, deliberately disclosing disinformation to such a medium is not only dishonest but a crime in and of itself!
(Email spams are crimes if they contain deliberately misleading information)
All of which made worse by the number of people negatively effected by it.
The criminal case regarding Bernie Madoff is just one example!
