If cold fusion were possible, Edward Teller would have made a bomb out of it by now (just joking!).
My point is, so many brilliant people have worked on hydrogen fusion (with Teller leading the list), it is hard to believe two guys who fled Utah are going to scoop the world. It is "big physics" only because in 50 years of trying, no one has been able to make it small. If Fleischmann and Pons succeed,they will be more famous than Teller, and he doesn't like being upstaged. (I hope he is still alive at age 95).
