We're all speculating, but some of us are speculating that the deal is a go "without" having confirmation. Others are speculating that the deal is not a go "unless" it's first confirmed. There's a big difference between the two perspectives.

i've wondered that as well
One negative i've come up with is that cc has extra packets that didn't sell due to lack of interest and they are trying to get rid of the extra stuff. makes sense with the cc warehouse being close by.
IMO deal is done and jf and chip are being hush hush because the details are gonna be released very soon.
