I'm still not convinced that CC is in this just for the rental side or just for getting customers in the store.
We've debated VOD here for quite a while, and I believe it's CLEAR that VOD is very much in the near term future of technology. Those not offering it WILL be left behind. Best Buy and Comp USA have signed with Movie Beam and will sell Set Top Boxes. I don't see CC getting left out of this technology. We have the satellite and are building up our delivery infrastructure. CC has the clout and the bucks to advertise. Could CC do this "in house"? Sure. But they already have plenty on their plate to keep up with. "Outsourcing" (us) may well be a much less expensive way for them to get into VOD. Their end of course, would be to advertise us hot and heavy. That is where GnF will reap the true benefit of this partnership.
