The deductible on the cheapest Bronze plan in California is $5,000 with another $1,350 exposure via co-pays. All preventive care (e.g. colonoscopies, mammograms, pap tests, etc.) are free. All other charges are paid at the insurance company's negotiated rate not the $200 per aspirin inflated retail rate. If you get the HSA plan you can deduct up to $4,350 of your medical expenses from your taxes (outside the 6% of annual income exclusion). If you're single and make less than $45,000 you get premium subsidies on all plans with a sliding scale when there are additional people in the household. Finally, you know your medical expenses will never exceed the $6,350 annual Out-of-Pocket maximum in any year.
