News can come from any source(Business Wire,Reuters, Bloomberg etc- it doesn't have to be thru EDGAR. A reporting company would file an 8-k thru EDGAR for a material event.

For example, here is a company that hasn't filed anything since 2010, and they just released news today-(not thru EDGAR):

I added more answer options: It doesn't move,Not many other people are buying it,I don't think it's a good stock,I don't think it will go up much,They don't release news,Stop sign/they don't file with otcmarkets,It's not a "hot" stock,They are not SEC reporting,The price is too high,The price is too low,I never heard of AFTC before
