Actually, that statement was made by Senator Sherrod Brown, member of the Senate Banking Committee, and was not made by Senator Johnson.

“That this isn’t as broken as it was, or it isn’t as broken as people think it is, doesn’t mean we defend it, doesn’t mean we don’t improve it, but we don’t do something so complicated,” Brown said.

Well, if Senator Johnson said that, that would mean he was against the Johnson-Crapo bill that he is pushing. That is not so at the moment.
