Anyway, I think you're supposed to be buying the 'patch when inventories are swelling and selling when they aren't. Buy weakness and sell strength ... :O)
As to the contango and Coxe.. yeah.. well he also thinks the Chinese are responsible for a lot if that futures buying so I guess he figures they actually want to take delivery ... Like gold futes cannot these be settled in USD as a proxy for the physical ? Don't get me wrong.. I see Coxe's big picture as pretty true.. I'm reading his book about surviving the new stock market... Well read half and got too busy... Will finish it over Spring Break in Quebec... Easy read... nice presentation of his macro views including his beloved triple waterfall ;o)
On the Loonie... Actually it was you that got me observing it more... I find it a better indicator (less noise overall) for where the commodities we produce are headed.. for now anyway...
Have you noticed our old friend GNO.V lately. Gee! I had over a 100k of that at one time... Should have kept it all I guess :o) I did tuck away a few K in my little guy's account :0)
