That's nothing. I've got to cover my IP short by Tuesday's COB, or I will owe a $750 for the quarterly dividend! Ouch! BTW, this is the first time I am going to do this. Ordinarily I make sure that I only short stocks that are ex-dividend at least two months hence. In this case though, it will be cheaper to cover my short and then buy back on the ex-dividend date, when the shares trade without the dividend, than to stand pat and owe the $750. (Who knows, maybe I can get a higher short price getting back in?)
