I don't buy the "explanations" of high puts buying as being naked puts selling (I am sure you meant selling not buying), and thus a sign of excessive bullishness, other recent tops with lesser values in the BP series and other bullish extremes would have had similar features, but these were associated with equity P/C ratios well under .5.
