I have no vote and it is irrelevant what my opinion is, but IN MY OPINION, the sigs are mostly junk food. They are almost always out of place for a stock site. Whether they are important to people, I can't say. I actually like mine right now for stock related reasons. But, I would GLADLY give it up to get rid of them entirely. It definitely would save on clutter and, apparently, controversy.
