Hi Peg, I didn’t mean the UAE would invade anyone. The post was about how they enter into Bush’s plans for the ME. The UAE has a strategic location next to Saudi Arabia and the Strait of Hormuz and as such we require them on our side of the chessboard. This is similar in some instances to our needing Georgia and the Ukraine to contain or surround Russia although here we used bogus democracies to ‘win’ them over to our side. That we can surround a target such as Iran with those countries subservient to Washington is in itself a threat. The military plans to invade Saudi and Iran are a integral part of the strategy and I believe you to be right it will be very unlikely and difficult for Bush to use military force. Still planning for an invasion is a potent form of psychological warfare at this stage and is made even more powerful by the number of allies such as the UAE that we can boast as standing with Washington.

Agreed Bush is a lame duck president however Zbigniew Brzezinski’s Grand Chessboard is played by both Republicans and Democrats.
