Funny you should ask about a deep water wreck.
It has been mentioned that SFRX found a ballast pile in 70 to 80 feet of water. Apparently this has been verified by SFRX's archeologist as well as a crew member who gave at least one of the ballast stones to an investor.

SFRX may also have to deal with a current that covers and uncovers the wreck site. That could be one reason that no one else has ever found the wreck site. ( Because it is buried under the sand.) I think for certain. Gold or silver would be buried under the sand on the wreck site.

As one poster likes to say I am a wannabe treasure hunter. I can tell you from experience on a deep water wreck in which I am on the Admiralty Claim. The current covers and uncovers the wreckage depending on the time of year. I have pictures of objects that are mostly uncovered during certain months of the year and other months? Only part of these masts are uncovered. There are certain areas where the sand appears to be over 4 feet deep and other areas where the hard pan appears to be only a foot or so under the sand. I've also seen holes several feet deep, with timbers running several feet under the top of the .

Ballast stones??? I would like to know if the site that SFRX has with the ballast stones. Has the ballast stones sitting several feet above the sand or are most of them under the sand? That might give me an idea of how deep the sand is at certain portions of the wreck.
Below is what can be found in deep water on a wreck site. But then again. What do I know? Some people call me a wannabe treasure salvor.
