You ask for input from people who agree with you.
You carefully don't ask for disagreement.
But you'll get it from me, anyhow.
I disagree with you.
I referee little league and adult baseball and softball. I think I do a good job. My supervisors think I do a good job -- I routinely get excellent evaluations. I have also been involved in easing out bad officials. I have, I think, a pretty good sense of what good and bad officiating is.
I have been yelled at, spat on, kicked because I saw things differently than the parents (usually) or coaches (sometimes) or players (rarely with kids, often with adults) did. Even when there is a 300 page rule book with page after page of rule interpretations there are always judgment calls. And I make them and don't apologize for doing so. And there are always people who don't like them. I don't like ejecting people -- after all, everybody is supposed to be there to have fun. But I have ejected players and coaches from games, and parents from the grounds. So I understand umpiring, and understand that in trying to interpret the TOU in the light of the intent and spirit of IH, Bob will ruffle some feathers. But a lot of this goes beyond ruffled feathers.
"Kill the Ump" is a traditional cry in American sport. So I'm not surprised to find it rearing its ugly head here. But ugly it is.
If you don't like the way this board is run, go elsewhere. Now that Bob is no longer with SI, I'm sure you'll find a warm welcome there. Or RB or Yahoo are probably much to your liking. (Not Fool -- they don't care for your kind of posting. Please don't go there.)
Don't go away mad. Just go away.
Post 1 for this time period
Will immediately go post a stock post
