In 2004, UU World magazine asked for contributions of "elevator speeches" explaining Unitarian
Universalism. These are short speeches that could be made in the course of an elevator ride
to those who knew nothing of the religion. Here are examples of the speeches submitted:

My best knocker story;
A good friend is a special effects guy in the movie world. He was working on a project that called for a number of rotting corpses, something like dawn of the dead. He had a small studio in his house but needed to make 20 dead dummies. As he finished them he put them in all the chairs in the house to make room in the studio. Keep in mind that these are VERY realistic.
One day some Jehovah knockers came and asked if they could spread the word. He acted delighted and invited them in to meet his family. He introduced them to each corpse in turn as family members.
His wife was in another room and began to moan and make strange sounds.
Needless to say they freaked, it was a very short visit and they never did try to spread their word.
