Right, actual earnings went down, but pro-forma earnings went up.

Over on RealMoney, a couple of writers are pointing out that the earnings bar was significantly lowered in Jan and Feb, so that when the earnings came out.. surprise!... they beat estimates. So earnings were not as "bad" as many had thought. I suspect that part of this rally is because of beating the reduced estimates.
