Ok, thanks, BigBake, I understand now.

One other question for you about FINRA short volume. I've always thought it consisted primarily of MMs shorting naked to fill a buy order but covering all or most before market close. However, another member has said it is just unsettled trades. Is it one or the other or both? Thanks again.
