Note to Beta: I have owned FNMA Common since the 1980's, and bought preferreds in late December 2008 or so after learning about them from TFud on the (way) old YMB Common FNMA Board. I had a previous ID of Freefannieandfreddie or some such nonsense...or was it?

A lot of my thesis formed on that Board at that time, I reasonably understood the legalities (always a wild card though yes), Hempton and some others were an indicator as well as defined the hole the government were in, and all or most of what Mbers predicted politically has occurred with the exception of the eventually do the right thing endgame we are still crying waiting and hoping for. Now I certainly wish I had bought a lot more, as in hock everything all in.
