Unlike Android, Meego was plagued by many technical issues due to the fact that Intel software engineers are simply not as good as Google software engineers.
The best software engineers don't go work for Intel. They go to Google, Apple, Facebook and yes, Microsoft.
It's absurd to think a bunch of Intel software engineers could keep pace with the likes of Apple, Google and Microsoft. Nokia had to dump Intel because the development was way too slow for the fast moving mobile market.
It's a symptom of senior management thinking that having the "largest number of software engineers" is any kind of meaningful metric for software productivity. You can hear the same nonsense again - "we have more engineers working on Android than Google does". That may be true, but where is the execution? Where's Android on Baytrail? What the heck are all those people doing?
I'll take one Linus Torvalds or Michael Abrash over 100 mediocre software engineers. Those are the kinds of folks you're competing with.
