Bitcoin Collect is the first alternative healthcare service billing platform to use the new internet currency known as bitcoins. It’s our newest addition to the Medcare Collect platform and it will allow alternative healthcare service providers such as medicinal marijuana sellers, spiritual healers, and other healthcare providers that are either not recognized by traditional insurance or where banking is impractical, provide care with very little risk of non-payment. Bitcoin collect has the same versatility of Medcare Collect, but operates outside the traditional banking and health insurance systems.

Providers like Medical marijuana, holistic medicine, and spiritual healing typically have to deal in cash only because either credit card companies and banks won’t give them merchant accounts, they are not recognized by insurance as legitimate medicine, or because patients do not want them to appear on their bank and credit card statements for fear of being ridiculed or even losing their job. This growing problem is making it very difficult for patients to get much needed care if they don’t have the funds up front in cash. Because it’s cash, the provider would have only the word of the patient that they will be paid back should they allow them to get service and pay it off over time, making any service not paid in full impossible and risky to give.



With Bitcoin Collect, there are several major benefits.

1) Anonymity: a provider can provide services, and accept payment using the Internet currency called Bitcoins. Bitcoins can easily be converted back to any currency safely and securely. The only thing showing in a patient’s bank account is the purchase of Bitcoins. What they are spent on is never recorded, allowing the patient to purchase any service they want completely anonymously. Not only do their statements not show this information, but their name or bank account is now not shown on the merchants bank records either, just an anonymous Bitcoin transaction. The merchant has the same benefits in that they are not tied to the patient and have no liability for the personal information of that patient.

2) Banking Restrictions: Financial institutions are very selective when giving a merchant account to a provider of any kind. Typically healthcare professionals like medical Marijuana distributors are denied merchant accounts or severly limited and as a result they deal in cash, which can be dangerous and raise red flags with the IRS. With Bitcoin Collect, Incoming charges are not shown as a cash deposit, but Instead it simply shows currency (any global currency) that is transferred into the merchant’s own bank account from his or her own bitcoin account. It’s completely private and there is no need for a merchant account from the bank at all!

Furthermore because the system initiates the bitcoin transactions each month and the deposit of money from the patient’s bank account as a pre-authorized ACH transaction, the merchant gets the same protection as our flagship product, medcare collect. If the Patient defaults on his/her monthly payments, the entire amount is charged and the person’s bank account is reported in default to the Banking system’s “Chex” system. This means that they can never open a US bank account again until they pay the bill! However, keep in mind that this almost never happens because of the flexibility that the system allows.

EXAMPLE 1:

Let’s say Brandon, a 19 year old college student goes into a Medical marijuana distributor with a prescription for marijuana for his severe anxiety. Now, he doesn’t want to pay by credit card because he would rather his parents not know about his condition as he feels they wouldn’t understand or he’d be embarrassed. What he’s doing is 100% legal and he is an adult. At a provider using the Bitcoin Collect system, he could purchase $100 in Bitcoins right on his cell phone and use those Bitcoins to purchase his prescription and be on his way. When his overbearing parents look at his bank statements all they see is Bitcoins, which can be used to buy millions of things besides medical marijuana.

Example 2:

Let’s say Summer would like to visit a spiritual healer for a weekend spiritual cleansing retreat. Problem is that the retreat costs $600. Summer doesn’t have $600 but she has a job and could save up $50 per month. She doesn’t want to wait a year to do it, and likely by that time she will forget or put it off and this cleaning experience will never happen for her. However, this Spiritual Healer uses Bitcoin Collect, so in a few clicks Summer is on her way to the retreat and every month on the 1st and second Friday of the month (when summer gets paid) $25 worth of Bitcoins are automatically purchased in her account and transferred to the Healer where they are converted back into dollars and deposited. If for some unfortunate reason, Summer’s payments should fail, the system will try several times and then purchase the entire Balance as a pre-authorized ACH electronic check. Giving her bank account a negative balance that will not be corrected until she pays the bill. Should Summer try to go open a bank account elsewhere, they will tell her that she has a flag in their Chex system and she needs to take care of the bill before she is allowed to open an account in any US bank. 99.9% secure for the merchant. However because of the flexibility of the system, Summer’s payments are never defaulted and she enjoys her retreat , while the spiritual healer earns income he never would have without Bitcoin Collect.
