No, more like Presler, so that Intel can maximize yields with dual core parts. If you consider Presler a kludge based on implementation, that's your opinion, but I'd say Presler is perceived to be kludgey on the basis of being a Netburst product with no power management confined in a particular thermal envelope. I think an NGA MCM will not be so confined, thermally. If Woodcrest/3GHz is 80W and Merom/2.33GHz is 40W, an NGA MCM should be in the range of 100-120W and be able to deliver 2.5+ GHz. In fact, by Q1 2007, the core will have received some tuning and process optimization, so it might be able to hit ~2.8GHz in the 100-120W power envelope. How will QC Opteron compare, especially if NGA promises to be better in IPC?
