You also heard that Bay Trail wasn't even meant to be on Android until recently(!!)

I have been struggling with that revelation since Thursday, and trying to understand the mindset behind the decision to ignore Android on Baytrail. I think that Intel's strategy was to assume that Android will forever remain a low end cost sensitive platform, and use Clovertrail+ only for Android. Once the 64 bit Apple 5s was announced, the idea of higher end Android offerings was born to leverage the 64 bit capability and the dual boot capability of the Atom.

Intel has been guilty of consistently underestimating Android. For its first phone chip, Intel ignored Android and hitched its star to Nokia with the MeeGo initiative. That was disastrous when at the last minute the new NOKIA CEO abandoned Intel for the Microsoft Phone. In 2012 for its first tablets, Intel ignored Android and put all its effort on Windows 8 tablets. Here again it got screwed by Microsoft,who had its own agenda of pushing Windows RT tablets.The same effort in porting to Android in 2012, would have paid off handsomely. Hopefully the late effort on Baytrail will bear fruit and develop the higher end Android market.
