The actual rendering and smoothness of the website depends heavily on the single threaded performance of the CPU.

And, once again, you need local performance AS WELL as your magical X86 server in the sky to enable a good experience.

Indeed the quality of your smart client can make a big difference
to the aesthetic quality of the interaction with the server. :-P

I'd bet $100 that you do not own a smartphone or a tablet. Am I correct?

Personally no. But my immediate family has 4 smart phones
and one tablet and I have tried them all. Novelty wears off pretty
fast and then they're just something I wouldn't want to either work
or play on. I have large hands, aging eyes, and shrinking patience
so I'd sooner add another big-ass LCD to my desktop or upgrade
my internet. Maybe someday I'll get a large tablet for the family
room to do quick imdb searches but LOL that's a pretty low priority.

The funny thing is my kids (from 13 to 20) play games mostly
on PCs, and occasionally on their DS/PSP but almost never on
their phones or tablet. They also strongly prefer PCs for facebook
and all their other social sites and watching net-based content.
The phones are almost exclusively used for texting friends.
