That is why I want Intel to diversify x86 onto as many other OSes as possible as quickly as possible in *every* form factor.

Duh. The future of computing is mobile. Desktops and notebooks are slow growing at best, but they're going to fade in relevance in due time.

Soon you will have enough power in your tablet/phone to dock it, and this will be good enough for most people. If Intel does not lead in phones/tablets, and if it doesn't strive to take significant content share in these devices, then its future really is bleak.

I don't think many people truly appreciate the threat from the ARM folks here. And, no, playing foundry for companies that know how to design mobile chips won't cut it, either.
