TeaKlanGelicals breathe a sigh of relief since this crime was not committed with a gun.

A 13-year-old boy is dead today after he was killed by is own father, 51-year-old Gary Sherrill of Phoenix, Arizona, with an axe. Sherrill told police he believed his son, David, was a demon and was going to eat him.

David’s mother contacted police after Sherrill did not return the boy to her after a planned visitation, and she was unable to reach them by telephone. When police went to Sherrill’s home, he initially told police the boy was not home, but police persuaded Sherrill to invite them inside.

Police then made the gruesome discovery of the 13 year-old boy, brutally murdered with an axe. Phoenix Police Sargaent Steve Martos said “Sadly, the victim sustained stab wounds and lacerations to several parts of his body.”

Martos said Sherrill confessed to killing his son, saying the boy was a demon and he was afraid of him.

Neighbors have called the police on Sherrill in the past, reporting him screaming at trees, and harassing people without cause. One woman said he engaged her in incoherent conversation and she was so frightened she stayed on the sidewalk talking with him so that he would not follow her home.

Sherrill has been arrested and charged with first degree murder.
