Jim started his email list as the moderator of the IDCC board. IMHO, it is only logical that if you would like the members of the email list to hear an opinion from you sent to all members of the list that you send that request personally to Jim and allow him to decide if it is appropriate to relate the information to the group or not.
What you did was not wrong in temperament, but is very wrong in internet etiquette.
The email list belongs to Jim, and just because you accidentally acquired the list does not give you permission to email the members of the list on your own. IHUB has board moderators who control the list. It seems a simple concept to understand.
