I think you have it in a nutshell.

The flow of information in a system tends to decrease the entropy (the second law), and what are we in if not in an age of massive information flow?

Whenever there is imbalance in information flow, that imbalance is (can be) exploited by trade and arbitrage until some period elapses or something galvanizes flow.

I think it's a fascinating subject and I wish I understood it even remotely well. For no reason other than the pleasure of understanding.
