mac, Sphere 3D may be willing to play with the elephants to some degree -
From van's interview with CEO Peter T -
Does Citrix, VMWare or any other company that you know of have a product out (or coming out) that will do what GW does?
I can’t comment on what they have planned or give an assessment of what their full technical capabilities are, but I can say that we believe that what we do is very unique and there is a definite need in the market. Keep in mind that GW does not necessarily need to be positioned as an alternative to offerings from these companies, but can actually be a great adjunctive capability .
Outside of the adjunctive capability, I would say that Sphere 3D is looking to disrupt the elephants -
More from van's interview -
Without giving away the secret sauce, can you explain how you’re able to turn any mobile device into a virtual desktop?
Turning your device into a Virtual Desktop is already being done by a number of companies, what we do is allow you to get access to the virtual applications without the overhead of the whole desktop.
Can you state in layman terms what GW does differently than the big guys (Citrix VMWare)?
We are not connecting you to your remote PC or a remote Virtual Machine. We dynamically build, on demand, the exact requirements to run the app you double-clicked or tapped. We are also able to take this capability and load it on a small appliance (server) and allow a business to provide these apps to their employees from their own data center.
How do you compare in terms of cost?
Very favorably! We believe that the small-medium business segment has been relatively untapped up until now due to significant costs associated with virtualization. We plan on changing this.
Is the company focusing on teaming up with a software developer versus building one app at a time?
We are taking both approaches. We don’t actually require assistance from the OEM to virtualize their app. We currently have dozens of functional apps, many from companies that have never heard of us. However, we will be releasing them to the consumer market one at a time.
