Well, it has been a big year for Deep Down with the orderbook backlog building to record levels and revenues from core operations now pushing past the levels of the best quarters when Mako and FT were included. The recent stock offering raised $7.4M with 4.1M shares sold at a 15% discount to the $2.14 PPS as I write this. The capital raise along with the newly-leased and larger manufacturing facility will allow DDI to increase production to meet the increasing orders it is getting for their patented line of subsea equipment.

With December being the 6th month in the new hwy90 location, the formerly vacant facility should now be fully operational and I expect significant production increases to be very evident through 2014 and going forward.

That said there are still areas lacking and challenges unmet for DDI and its management team. Bidding and contract tracking is an obvious weakness highlighted once again in the last Q. Qualifications of the NHUs and other hardware was also mentioned (presumably, once qualified to whatever standard applies, they are able to be used by a wider client/geographic base)

A snapshot of related companies in the deep subsea oil market shows a pronounced dip from recent highs, so DDI is not significantly different in its pullback from the runup past $2.50.

I won't be posting much, my passion for assisting new small businesses has been consuming much of my time and creative energy. And besides, America needs producers more than ever. Producing is the heart of wealth creation and small producers are the key to sustainability in today's economy.

On that related note, I would like to make a point on the phenomena of "cheering a stock to drop". Aside from the practice of "short and distort" for a profit, those who infest a message board with an endless stream of negativity and lies in order to demoralize shareholders are simply practicing a form of vandalism. Plain and simple, it's the most infantile of crimes to destroy the value in something someone else owns. No different than keying a corvette or doing donuts in a nicely manicured lawn.

I was pondering this recently as I was making a review of 2013 and realized how much I enjoyed the parts of my life that created things from scratch. It's a LOT of work but the rewards both financially and spiritually make it totally worthwhile. In the course of writing the review, I had to mention a significant loss. As you might guess by the context here, it was a loss due to vandalism. There could be no benefit to the vandal and his/her task was accomplished without effort or intelligence.

I imagined, for a moment, what their introspective "review" would be. The only word I could think of was "ashamed".

We never know how many years and days we get on this earth. I can reflect on mine with great joy a vandal can never experience.

I wish all of you a Merry Christmas, great health, and fulfillment in all of your worthy ventures.
