Last night, Jan 30, 2006, the five members of the security counsel referral group chose unanimously to refer Iran to the security counsel this Thursday. However, this was a compromise decision as it also stated the security counsel was to wait until March to initiate any action against Iran. Irans reply was, "this eliminates further negotiations."
My thoughts are the compromise was reached as Russia and Iran intend to meet in March to negotiate Irans enrichment activities be done entirely in Russia. Further, I would expect Iran to maintain their current position unless China is thrown in the mix.
The possibility of China, Russia and Iran joining in this endeavor is not exactly comforting either. So either way, it is not good for oil security. Next thing ya know Iran will be asking for Hugo Chavez to join the party. Now wouldn't that be a fine, "how do you do." ?
