I don't know if your questioning what I am saying or not. Let me give this example. An automobile dealer records gross revenue at MSRP for every car it sells and then takes the actual price it sold the car for and reports this as net sales and the difference is "discounts". For deceptive purpose you could make MSRP anything you wanted in order to elevate gross sales but overall the number is totally meaningless. This methodology is why people are suspicious of business in general. If you remember they were basing their bonuses on this fake number and were force to give them back due to the inaccuracy of the number.
