re >> I think that x86 has a good future ahead

Is x86 intrinsically a superior architecture ? Or is it being carried, despite its excess complexity, on the back of Microsoft and Oracle software applications, and Intel's process investment ? I am wondering why Intel's 22nm products are merely on par with many ARM variants at 28 nm ? At any rate, the more advanced Intel devices do not show the expected 50% density or enough performance or cost that one would guess from just looking at 22 nm vs 28 nm.
