“Pill-burden” addendum: People might wonder why ABBV/ENTA bothered to co-formulate ABT-450 and ABT-267 insofar as the standard dose is two combination pills taken at the same time. How is this better than taking one pill of each drug?

The answer is that the co-formulation ensures that patients take two DAA’s, averting the almost certain emergence of resistant mutations from taking either drug alone.
