The thought brought back memories of when I ran a 2400 baud single telephone line bulletin board way back in my 20's (early 1980's) when CIS Compuserve was the big thing. Burning the midnight oil messing around with ANSI images - when not playing around with the ZX81 machine code or with Space Invaders at my local pub.
After years of coding on practically everything from the smallest of small to the biggest of mainframes I retired over a decade ago.
That GM script was literally just cobbled together, perhaps not well.
My suspicions are that given another week or two and IH will be giving serious consideration of alternatives to potential income from pay-per-view ads and suchlike. As-is, the current (new) format isn't good and they'll lose subscription renewals and might see pay-per-view income decline as users opt to disable such content, or just simply go elsewhere.
Current events are a case of bad management. You can't just drop ads on a subscriber base that specifically paid for a ad free service. Nor should changes have been made without prior warning/consultation (resulting in somewhat panicked attempts to pacify the outcry).
Let's see how things progress for a while, as I'm sure if things don't improve they'll be quite a wide circle looking for better alternatives.
