Federal Court judges stay cases all the time, especially when Plaintiff's case has crumbled as it appears to have for J&J. By staying the case the judge is sending a signal to the party that is behind on points. The judge will rule later this week on how and what to sanction J&J for, then there will be a hearing on November 6 to sanction J&J a second time for violating a protective order and then force settlement discussions. How the judge rules against J&J will determine the initial settlement posture.
