The implosion would really just convert the public behemoth to a lot of local community schools funded by parents.

the problem with that is that kids in poorer neighborhoods would really suffer.

enabling? I would have loved not to have worked and been home when my kids got out of school... for most it was not a choice, but a necessity. Until they were in their early teens, I always made some arrangement. Not everyone can afford that and getting some help from the schools would be beneficial not only to the kids and parents but to the community at large.

Funny how if you stay on welfare to be home with your kids, you're a bum that won't work. If you go to work, you're a bad parent not taking care of your kids.

I agree the fed involvement should be held to a minimum.
