If I had to guess, I'd say at least 30% more for tough urban districts like Newark -- maybe more like 50%. I don't have the exact stats. My sister started teaching in Jersey City and is now in an "affluent" district. But the starting salary was much higher in Jersey City than in the more affluent districts. She had first graders -- hardly a "hardcore" group -- and loved it as a great learning experience.
