ISRG released new Davinci ...will watc it after open ...told ya wanted to stay away from it , for a while , still does pullback after pops.


ISRG Intuitive Surgical: Color on co's new da Vinci system (127.32 -0.92)

Bear Stearns notes that last night, ISRG unexpectedly launched a new da Vinci system called the "da Vinci S", which reduces setup time, uses new instruments that expand access to the patient, & offers improved communications technology for surgeons. Their new model projects that about 15% of da Vinci buyers will choose the new system over the next ~3 years. They say that based on last night's press release, it seems that older da Vinci ASP (w/4th arm at $1.33M) is running at ~$175,000, above their previous estimates for 2006. Price increases for the older da Vinci, along with the new premium-priced system, are driving $26M-29M of add'l sales to their 2006 and 2007 model. Firm raises their 2006-2008 ests; raising their 2006 EPS est to $1.77 from $1.57 (consensus $1.57), and their 2006 sales est to $323 mln vs $222.3 mln consensus.
