Home Depot-HD under informal investigation by SEC-NY Post
The New York Post has learned that the Securities and Exchange Commission has opened an informal investigation into Home Depot relating to allegations that the company inflated payments collected from suppliers in order to cover the cost of damaged merchandise. According to current and former Home Depot employees, the payments, known as return-to-vendor charges, helped the company pad store profit.
