I was unaware that any state did not provide funds for the legal defense of anyone that could not afford an attorney. Although I think the law is abused in many instances, everyone should be able to have an competent attorney, indigent or not. Where I would disagree is that the accused is not entitled to the best attorneys money can buy as some would argue (nor should he be provided with an incompetent hack, especially in capital cases.)
