Well this is how they spell it in Iceland:

Snorri was the first European known to be born in America at the beginning of the 11th Century. His parents were Þorfinnur karlsefni Þórðarson and Guðríður Þorbjarnardóttir (Thorfinnur and Gudridur).


So when they came over and landed at Ellis Island they were given the names Thorfin and Gudrid
