edit ps: heard Obama's speech on rolling over this morning .. in wake-up mode i agreed with him .. gut feeling is evidence which has convinced him would convince me .. i thought it was a good speech .. a good political move to go to Congress first as Cameron did .. if we believe in the rule of law then Assad should be spanked .. qualification is i also agree with Putin that the evidence which has convinced Obama should be given to the UN Security Council even if it is hamstrung .. i also agree with Ban Ki-moon .. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/ban-ki-moon-advocates-political-solution-on-syria/157748/ .. that all effort toward a political settlement should be maintained and that we should wait for the UN inspector's analysis .. Congress should have the UN evidence to consider in their debate, too .. that's the position i feel comfortable with now ..
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, whose Liberal Democrat party opposed the Iraq War, listed five differences in a letter to party members:
1. Use of chemical weapons is a war crime and there is no disputing these weapons have already been used
2. We are working in lock-step with our international partners France, the EU, the Arab League and Turkey and a Democrat President in the United States
3. Proportionate, targeted military action following a regime's use of chemical weapons is legal under humanitarian law
4. This is not about boots on the ground. This is not about regime change. This is about upholding international and humanitarian law and deterring the use of chemical weapons to protect innocent people from being murdered in future by brutal dictators
5. There will be a vote in the House of Commons. We have gone to the UN, and the Attorney General is publishing unedited advice based on evidence.
that bit just because it was fair .. am tired of being fussled with the specter of Iraq .. and what happened in the past .. and with what might happen if .. next .. am settled for now ..
edit ps .. just saw ..

It was Plato who said, “He, O men, is the wisest, who like Socrates, knows that his wisdom is in truth worth nothing”
