I understand your position greenman.
For me, just because the old ones couldn't doesn't
mean the new ones shouldn't. I mean these are suppose to have some advantages over the old style machines or why bother reinventing.

Nobody would be forced to use the "Pause" yet I bet there will be those who will appreciate having the "option". In addition, I suspect people who've grown up on newer digital games will have come to expect certain conveniences. Better we offer them than have our competitors beat us over the head with them.

There will always be those who like the old ways of doing things and as is usually the case, they are left behind by those who forge ahead to push the cutting edge to wide acceptance. Otherwise we all would still be playing PONG and content with it! Every once in awhile, what was once considered the fringe becomes cutting edge and I'd rather be in front of it instead of being run over by those who are riding it. JMHO
