I bought ME with 256 MB and went straight to 512 MB to get
acceptable performance. On my first XP system, I bought 256 and
went to 1 GB. This on an old Pentium 3 that still reasonably
useable as an appliance. I think that 512 MB is a minimal
amount for XP these days and that 1 GB is acceptable.
