I think people have fear of owning fnma is bc of two events:

1. People bought GM shares cheap speculating the government was going to return them. They did but issued new shares and old ones became worthless.

2. Healthcare reform. Nobody including my dad that works for an insurance company ever thought that bill was going to get passed but it did.
