If there is wireless (cell phone type) service in the area the connection can be via a wireless modem card in the laptop.

If not, then you would need a satellite dish. This connectivity is more expensive than wireless and mobile (take it anywhere) is even more expensive. It also requires aiming the dish at the satellite at each different place you want to use it.
