They can still be downloaded. There are programs that act sort of like a vcr to explain it in laymans terms. The program will save any streaming content inluding you flash movies.

The only way to secure it in my eyes is via encryption that expires. Some sort of RSA encryption that only lasts 24hours or something to that effect. Would be difficult but not if they developed the player and the codec. Codec would have to be propreitary as well. I'm sure it can be done and secure to the point that most kids won't waste the money on the subscription trying to crack their security.

Also on another note for the doubters of the service being the next thing think of HDTV's. Mind you any HDTV can be used as a computer monitor for any modern video card. Infact most new cards come with a HDMI out with a SVGA converter in the box.

I also forsee a huge push towards wireless connectivity of devices in the home. i.e. computer streaming any video content to your tv kind of like media center pc's with no cables. Wouldn't be that hard to make the norm.
